In fact, laxatives do very little to actually stop your digestive system from absorbing all the food you eat. The most that they can do is to prevent your body from storing more fat than it needs. They also may cause temporary gas and bloating.
The first thing you need to understand about laxatives to lose weight is that they only have a few benefits. For example, you can use them to help you lose water weight faster, which is a great benefit if you are trying to drop several pounds in a short period of time. The reason that this works so well is because your body will start to go into shock when it takes in less water than it normally would. Your digestive system is designed to quickly and efficiently process large quantities of food, but it does not go into overdrive when there is less food to process. Therefore, it works as long as there is a sufficient amount of water in your diet.
